Autism Friendly Screening & Discussion at Saffron Screen

On Sunday 29th January, Saffron Screen will host two special screenings of Life, Animated, a powerful and universal documentary about a young man with autism and the transformative power of Disney films in his life.

The first screening at 11am will be ‘Autism Friendly’ with no trailers or adverts, low level lighting throughout and the film sound at a consistently lower volume. The second screening at 8pm will be followed by a panel discussion to talk about the film and its themes with the audience.

Life, Animated is a wonderful and inspirational documentary chronicling the life of 23-year-old Owen Suskind. Diagnosed with autism and unable to speak as a young child, Owen and his family quickly learned that his fascination with classic Disney animated films provided a unique way for him to communicate with and understand the outside world. A powerful and universal coming-of-age tale and a moving and humorous insight into both the experience of autism and the transformative possibilities of cinema.

Collection buckets will be in situ for Ambitious about Autism, a national charity for children and young people with autism.

Tickets for Life, Animated can be purchase online, via the cinema box office and at Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre. To join the Saffron Screen mailing list for Autism Friendly screenings please email:
