Special Wilko Johnson Screening In Aid Of The Teenage Cancer Trust

Inventive and uplifting documentary film The Ecstasy of Wilko Johnson will be screened at Saffron Screen on Tuesday 25th August in aid of The Teenage Cancer Trust and will be preceded by a set from Wilco Wilko, a band formed especially for the occasion.

Director of The Goob to Visit Saffron Screen

Writer-Director Guy Myhill will visit Saffron Screen on Monday 27th July for a Q&A with the audience following a screening of his film, The Goob.

The Goob, Myhill’s first feature film, recently won Best Achievement in Production at the British Independent Film Awards and is an atmospheric coming-of-age story about the tense relationship between school-leaver Goob and his mum’s new boyfriend.


Saffron Screen Double Bill Pops Up in Newport

Saffron Screen’s Pop-up cinema takes the show on the road again this month with its first double bill, this time in the thriving village of Newport.

On Saturday 18 July, the community cinema will screen popular Aardman animation Shaun the Sheep (U) at 4pm and follow it with BAFTA-winning Formula 1 racing drama, Rush (15) at 8pm.

New programme features Oscar-winners

mar_programmeWe have plenty of award nominees and winners to watch this programme, beginning with our recommended film for March, Whiplash. There are terrific films throughout March and April, including Ex Machina, A Most Violent Year, Kingsman, Trash, the eagerly anticipated Selma, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Still Alice starring Best Actress Oscar-winner Julianne Moore.


Halloween fun at Saffron Screen!

There was fierce competition for the best costume prize at Saffron Screen’s special Halloween screening of The Little Vampire during half term. In the end, Rafferty was judged to be the winner, with Barnaby coming a close second.
