Easter Films at Saffron Screen
Open all day, every day from Thursday 6th April until Monday 17th April, Saffron Screen is the place to see award-winning, record-breaking and magical films this Easter.
Headlining the programme this Easter is the new Disney live-action musical, Beauty and the Beast showing every day (twice a day) for a week between the 7-13th April. This already record-breaking film is a swirling musical delight which stays true to the original animation and stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens alongside Sir Ian McKellen, Ewan McGregor and Kevin Klein. Children and adults cannot fail to love this film, arguably Disney’s best to date. It is joyous!
Younger children and families will also enjoy Sing, a sweet and breezy toe-tapping animation about an animal singing competition, and The Lego Batman Movie, dubbed the “the best batman movie”, it’s a hilarious, high energy, animation spin off and lots of fun to boot!
Superb drama Fences takes centre stage from 7-9th April. Denzel Washington and Viola Davis (winner of the BAFTA, Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Supporting Actress) excel in this adaptation of August Wilson’s play set in 1950s Pittsburgh. And for one night only, see Lion, the hugely popular drama starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman on Sat 15th April.
Viceroy’s House is a beautiful period drama set at the end of British rule in India with a brilliant cast including Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson, Michael Gambon and Om Puri, showing every day from Wednesday 12th until Easter Sunday, Downton fans will love it!
Saffron Screen’s programme is always bursting with LIVE theatre, opera and ballet and the Easter line-up includes Twelfth Night, the “masses of fun, delicious crowd pleaser” starring Tamsin Greig screened live from the National Theatre, and celebrated ballet Jewels broadcast live from the Royal Opera House in London.
