DIRECTOR Nicole Holofcener
CAST Julia Louis-Dreyfus, James Gandolfini, Catherine Keener, Toni Collette

A sharp, generous, funny and grown-up romantic comedy about the pitfalls of middle-aged love. Eva, a divorcée, falls for Albert (James Gandolfini in his penultimate role) but then discovers he is her new best friend’s ex-husband. Smart and winning, this is a fitting valediction to a much-mourned actor. (2013 USA 93 minutes)

A divorced and single parent, Eva (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) spends her days enjoying work as a masseuse but dreading her daughter’s impending departure for college. She meets Albert (James Gandolfini), a sweet, funny and like-minded man also facing an empty nest. As their romance quickly blossoms, Eva befriends Marianne (Catherine Keener), her new massage client. Marianne is a beautiful poet who seems ‘almost perfect’ except for one prominent quality: she moans about her ex-husband way too much. Suddenly, Eva finds herself doubting her own relationship with Albert as she learns the truth about Marianne’s Ex. Enough Said is a sharp, insightful comedy that humorously explores the mess that often comes with getting involved again.

At last. A romantic comedy that is romantic and funny and not simply an insult to the intelligence of all carbon-based life forms. Nicole Holofcener… has created a thoroughly likable and genuinely funny film and its stars, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the late James Gandolfini, are a revelation, singly and together. Like their director, they unassumingly but decidedly took it to the next level on this movie… This film is a smart and winning story about what is involved in the painful re-illusionment of middle-aged love.  Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
