King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
DIRECTOR Guy Ritchie
CAST Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou
Guy Ritchie’s dynamic take on the King Arthur legend stars Charlie Hunnam as Arthur, brought up on the streets until he pulls Excalibur from the stone.
Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to this epic fantasy action adventure. The film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur (Charlie Hunnam) as he journeys from the streets to the throne. Robbed of his birthright by Vortigern (Jude Law), and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. Once he pulls Excalibur from the stone his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true destiny … whether he likes it or not.
(2017 USA 126 mins)
Guy Ritchie’s hi-octane take on the myths and legends of King Arthur is ridiculous but enjoyable. Guy Ritchie’s way-over-the-top, frenzied spin on the legend of King Arthur, with a leaden Charlie Hunnam as the streetwise monarch-to-be and a much more fun Jude Law as his preening evil uncle King Vortigern, offers wall-to-wall testosterone, digital effects, fights and supernatural freak-outs.
