The latest instalment in the Lego Movie franchise boasts another all-star cast, sharp writing and slick animation – Ninjas, go!

The island paradise of Ninjago is under the constant threat of destruction thanks to super-villain Garmadon, who lives in a nearby volcano. It’s up to six inexperienced but brave young ninjas to defend their home, using a variety of impressive equipment and vehicles. Like the previous Lego outings, this is a fabulous combination of slick animation and clever comedy that the whole family will enjoy.
(2017 Denmark / USA 101 mins)

How can you not love a film where the Ultimate Weapon is a kitten? … The film is full of the nostalgic charm of the cartoon series and wittily references the fact it is entirely made out of fingerprint-smudged bricks in a way Lego Batman kind of forgot. The fact it’s packed with gags and surprises at every turn also makes it a treat for adults, as does the detailed animation. Larushka Ivan-Zadeh, Metro UK
