A Cairo police officer caught in a web of deceit and corruption during a murder investigation in this engrossing political thriller set just before the 2011 Egyptian revolution.

In this police procedural set just before the 2011 Egyptian revolution, a Cairo police officer investigates the murder of a famous club singer at the Nile Hilton Hotel. Initially, the amoral cop views the job as just another opportunity to pocket a few more bribes, but as he uncovers disturbing details about the reach of the crime, this ambivalent anti-hero finds his conscience pricked. With excellent performances and an intelligent script, this is a thrilling neo-noir with added political intrigue.
(2017 Sweden / Denmark / Germany / France 110 mins Subtitled)

Fares is an inspired casting as the Noredin, he plays the crooked cop with a conscience with a rather impressive ease and commendable nuance. The film does a fantastic job in allowing those unsure of what pushed people to Tahrir Square in 2011, to familiarise themselves with the corrupt system which drove its young people onto the street and its former president to jail. A genuinely thrilling neo-noir with added political intrigue.  Lindar Marric, HeyUGuys
