Q&A with Actor Jo Hartley at Saffron Screen
Actor Jo Hartley will return to Saffron Screen for a Q&A after Alice Lowe’s new black comedy, Prevenge, on Friday 31st March at 8pm.
Jo, who enjoyed success in last year’s David Brent: Life on the Road and Eddie the Eagle, found fame as Cynth in Shane Meadow’s hugely popular film and television series, This Is England, and returns to the big screen in 2017 as the midwife in Alice Lowe’s Prevenge, which has been dubbed “a future cult classic”.
Saffron Screen’s Programming Manager, Rebecca del Tufo, said:
“Jo visited Saffron Screen last year with Eddie the Eagle and was a brilliantly funny and engaging raconteur full of stories from her time working alongside Shane Meadows and Vicky McClure on This is England. We are looking forward to hearing what is was like to work with Alice Lowe on this brilliant satire, Prevenge, and also with Ricky Gervais on his recent David Brent film in which she played his love interest”.
Fans of grisly black comedy Sightseers will be pleased to see the film’s creator and co-writer Alice Lowe star in this macabre yet controlled slasher satire about a pregnant woman who goes on a killing spree, believing the baby growing inside her is instructing her to commit murder. Directed and performed when Lowe herself was seven months pregnant, this is a dark take on society’s perception of pregnant women. Murderous but fun!
Prevenge (15) will be shown at Saffron Screen on Friday 31st March at 8pm (followed by Jo Hartley’s Q&A). The Saffron Screen bar will be open from 7.30pm. Tickets are available from www.saffronscreen.com, the Tourist Information Centre and box office.
