Raising money for Ambitious about Autism at Life, Animated screenings
On Sunday 29 January we were delighted to hold two screenings of Oscar-nominated documentary Life, Animated, an inspiring and powerful film about a young man with autism and the transformative power of Disney films in his life.
Our first screening was autism-friendly with low level lighting and consistently lower volume throughout the film. The second was followed by a panel discussion with two of Saffron Screen’s team of staff and volunteers who have personal and professional experience of autism. Thank you to our super audience who made a fantastic contribution to the conversation.
We have received some very positive feedback on the day including “a really insightful film followed by an incredibly open and inspiring forum” and “using film to engage with real issues for real individuals in our community”.
At both showings we collected for Ambitious about Autism, a national charity for children and young adults with autism. Thanks to the generosity of our audiences we are thrilled to report that we raised £100!
Our next autism-friendly screening will be Sing (subject to final confirmation) on Sunday 2 April, which is World Autism Awareness Day 2017.
