A delightful film about the shanty-singing Cornish fisherman who formed a band and went on to national success and acclaim.

Based on the true story of the shanty-singing Cornish fishermen who formed a band, were signed by Universal Records, secured a top ten hit and performed at Glastonbury, this feel-good British tale is a celebration of the power of community. Whilst the film doesn’t shy away from the hardship of the fishing life, it will nonetheless have you leaving the cinema with a skip in your step, and a song in your heart.
(2018 UK 112 mins)

This gentle, sweet-natured comedy has warmth and a certain X factor of likability, helped by big-hearted performances from a cast including Daniel Mays and Tuppence Middleton … Their singing is robustly and winningly performed, and the whole thing is heartfelt. Nice also to see Maggie Steed as the local pub’s landlady. It’s pretty goofy but fun.  Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
