Former Moscow correspondent to host discussion after Meeting Gorbachev – This Sun 24 Nov
The latest documentary from Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man, Fitzcarraldo) traces the career of Mikhail Gorbachev, former General Secretary of the USSR. Combining insightful interviews, archive footage and playful moments, it celebrates Gorbachev’s remarkable achievements which included the reunification of Germany, negotiating the reduction of nuclear weapons with the US and the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The film, to be shown on Sunday 24th November, will be followed by a discussion with journalist Liam Halligan, a former Moscow correspondent who has met Gorbachev.
Liam Halligan is an economist, writer and broadcaster. He is best known for his column in The Sunday Telegraph, which he has written since 2003. The column enjoys a large international following and has been recognized with a highly-coveted British Press Award.
