Halloween’s a Scream At Saffron Screen
Saffron Screen have two fantastic Halloween themed special events coming up this week.
In the afternoon there will be a special half term Halloween screening of the spooky kooky family classic The Addams Family including a children’s fancy dress competition with a prize for the best costume.
Then later, as darkness decends, Danny Boyle’s stage version of Frankenstein will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Frankenstein and Jonny Lee Miller as The Creature, the production has won numerous awards and five star reviews. Charles Spencer of the Daily Telegraph writes:
“[Boyle] pulls off something truly spectacular here. The Frankenstein story has become so familiar that it might seem an impossible task to make the old story seem fresh. Yet somehow Boyle does just that, constantly creating shocks, spectacular coups de theatre – the lighting effects alone are worth the price of admission – and scenes that tug at the heart. The music by the electronic duo Underworld is a blast, too.
Frankenstein (15) is being broadcast as part of the National Theatre’s 50th anniversary celebrations and will screened at 7.45pm on Thursday 31st October. The Addams Family (PG) will be shown at 3pm also on Thursday 31st October. Tickets are available from the cinema box office, the Tourist Information Centre, or online at www.saffronscreen.com
