A dementia-friendly screening of this glorious Christmas classic about a department store Santa who has to prove that he is in fact the real old gent.

The holiday season is in full swing when a cultured gentleman with twinkling eyes, an ample belly and a snowy beard is hired as a Macy’s department store Santa. But when he is put on trial, everyone’s faith is put to the test as young and old must face the question: do you believe in Father Christmas?
(1947 USA 94 mins + interval B&W)

Screening open to all but particularly welcoming to people living with dementia and their friends, family and carers.

Miracle on 34th Street is an apt tile for such a magical film. It glows with goodwill that can at times seem a little thin on the ground in other so-called Christmas films. The question posed not only to the characters of the movie, but also to the audience is, ‘do you believe in Santa Claus?’ If that sounds a little too mawkish for your tastes, then get ready to rein in your cynical reactions for this Oscar-winning movie … this is a clever and deeply original story, that remains true and confident in direction, while delivering considerable charm all the while.
