Q&A with Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again director Ol Parker
A lucky audience was thrilled on Thursday evening to hear writer-director Ol Parker answer questions after a joyful screening of his film MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN. Ol and his family watched the film together and then Ol discussed the making of the film with best-selling author and screenwriter Jojo Moyes.
Jojo asked Ol a wonderful range of questions, and he touched on the Busby Berkeley style choreography, the thrill and terror of working with Cher, and how determined he was that she should play the grandmother role, and the full excitement of being in the middle of the 14-boat dance sequence (“Waltz, Colin, waltz!”).
Ol shared his thoughts on various audience questions – which of the three is in fact Sophie’s dad? Who was the trickiest cast member to work with? (Answer: they were all fabulous!) Will there be a third film (unlikely). The indoor scenes were all filmed at Shepperton Studios, but the outdoor scenes were on the island of Vis in Croatia (let’s all book our holidays now!).
Saffron Screen extends its thanks to Ol Parker and his family and to Jojo Moyes for a wonderful evening.
