Saffron Screen’s Frequently Asked Questions

Does Saffron Screen allocate seats for films?

All seating is allocated (with the exception of Monday nights). We hope this makes your life easier but do let us know what you think by emailing:

Can I view a seating plan?

Yes, you can download our seating plan herePlease note that row AA is closest to the screen.

What are Saffron Screen’s opening hours?

Saffron Screen operates from Friday night through to Monday night with matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays. There is also a bi-monthly Cinema for Tinies screening on a Sunday morning. In addition to this regular schedule we screen Special Events midweek (and at weekends) and extra screenings in the school holidays. Please check our website for details.

When do the cinema doors open?

Doors open 30 minutes before the advertised showing times, unless the website shows a different time for a specific event. This is for a number of reasons:

  • It allows staff changeover: often our team of front of house staff, cinema volunteers and projectionists change from one showing to another;
  • It gives the team time to replenish stock, including snacks, hot drinks and cold refreshments so that everything you want is ready for you on arrival;
  • It gives the team time to clean the cinema after every screening.

What if I arrive early?

Don’t worry if you arrive early. There are benches you can wait on outside, and in inclement weather you can wait in the school lobby area until the doors open.

Where can I get information on new films or events?

For more information on our current and upcoming schedule check our website, pick up a programme from the cinema or TIC, or alternatively join one or more of our mailing lists.

Can I bring a baby to the cinema?

Under 2s are free if they sit on a carer’s lap, but will be charged for if they occupy a seat. All 3 year olds and over will be charged the child’s rate whether they occupy a seat or not. We are happy to admit under 2s into a morning or afternoon performance with a U or PG certification. However, please spare a thought for our other guests – if your baby grows unsettled, step outside for a moment until they’ve calmed down. For your enjoyment and the enjoyment of others, we recommend that very young children are taken to our specially tailored Cinema for Tinies performances rather than standard screenings.

Do you have a bar?

Yes – the Saffron Screen bar is open most Friday and Saturday nights and for all evening theatre, opera and ballet events plus other special occasions.
